Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims fast between sunrise and sunset. While Iftar literally means to break the fast, Ramadan is much more than fasting. The holy month is a highly spiritual time for practicing Muslims who refocus their attention on God, practice self-restraint and cleanse their body and soul through increased acts of charity and worship.
