Creative and Performing Arts Selective Stream
The Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) Selective Stream at Granville South Creative and Performing Arts High School supports gifted and talented students across a diverse range of art forms, including Contemporary Dance, Drama, Drumming, Filipino Dance, Middle Eastern Dance, Music, Pasifika Dance and Vocal and Visual Arts.
Students in the CAPA Selective Stream learn in an environment that nurtures creativity, collaboration and excellence. Working alongside like‑minded peers, they are guided through a specialist program aligned with the CAPA learning progressions framework, empowering them to refine their skills and pursue their artistic aspirations.
Each art form develops its own unique knowledge, skills, elements, and concepts, with the power to inspire, enrich and transform lives.
Beyond the Selective Stream, all students at Granville South study 100 hours each of Music and Visual Arts during Years 7 and 8. They may also deepen their expertise through a wide range of elective subjects, choosing from an extensive range of senior courses in Years 11 and 12.

What we offer our Creative and Performing Arts students
The Granville South Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) Selective Stream is designed to support students with advanced creative learning needs and a passion for the arts.
At the start of each school year, all Year 7 students are invited to audition for the CAPA Selective Stream. Successful applicants join a specialised program that nurtures their talent and extends their artistic capabilities.
Students in the Selective CAPA Stream participate in approximately five hours of specialist extension workshops and ensemble lessons each week. These sessions help them develop technical skills in their chosen art form, collaborate with peers across year groups, and create original works and performances as part of their regular timetable.
Throughout the year, students have multiple opportunities to showcase their work at school events, statewide festivals, and special performances.
Students benefit from our:
- flexible education programs that support their creative activities
- specialist teachers
- performance and art spaces.
